No começo do mês, a Nintendo realizou em Tókio um evento de três dias aberto ao público para apresentar o Nintendo 3DS, disponibilizando o aparelho para ser experimentado pelas pessoas presente. No primeiro dia do evento, a Nintendo aproveitou a oportunidade para confirmar quais jogos serão lançados juntamente com o 3DS quando ele fizer a sua estréia no país no dia 26 de Fevereiro.
Apesar de a última edição da Electronic Entertainment Expo ter apresentado um número impressionante de jogos que estariam vindo para o aparelho, apenas oito títulos serão lançados junto com o 3DS no Japão. De acordo com o blog Andriasang, a Nintendo disse que apenas um título próprio da empresa estará disponível no primeiro dia: Nintendogs + Cats, que será comercializado por 4.800 yen ($57, R$ 96,9) – o mesmo preço dos jogos do DS no país.
Os outros títulos que estarão disponíveis no dia do lançamento são Winning Eleven 3DSoccer, Combat of Giant Dinosaur 3D, Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Samurai Warriors Chronicle, Puzzle Bobble 3D, Ridge Racer 3D, e Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. Alguns destes jogos custarão no máximo 6.090 ienes ($73, R$ 124).
O 3DS em si será comercializado por um preço 40% maior do que o DSi no Japão, com o valor do aparelho sendo estipulado a 25,000 ienes ($306, R$ 520).
